Generali Global Assistance Updates Its Beneficiary Companion Services

The company adds social media shut-down and memorialization assistance to its beneficiary companion services.

Generali Global Assistance (the Company) today announced the addition of a Social Media Shut-Down and Memorialization Assistance to its Beneficiary Companion Service.

Generali Global Assistance’s Beneficiary Companion Service exists to help beneficiaries of the recently deceased take care of the many difficult and time-consuming tasks that are involved with closing out a loved one’s affairs.

Each beneficiary is assigned a dedicated Beneficiary Assistance Coordinator who will help them throughout this process and can assist in a variety of ways, including canceling and stopping the payment of utility services, notifying financial institutions and closing out accounts, and informing and coordinating with government agencies.

Paige Schaffer, CEO of Generali’s Global Assistance’s Identity and Digital Protection Services Global Unit, commented on today’s news, “Dealing with the death of a loved one is never easy; while the immediate aftermath of a death includes planning funeral services and grieving, many beneficiaries may be required to contact between 12-15 entities immediately after their loved one’s passing. Those calls are just one of the many important steps that need to be taken to avoid a loved one’s identity becoming one of the 2.5 million identities that are stolen from deceased individuals every year.”

The Beneficiary Companion Service was designed to assist beneficiaries in closing out a wide array of services, from heating bills to cable and phone service, but in order to serve today’s consumer Generali Global Assistance rolled out this latest update to assist with their loved one’s digital identities. With Social Media Shut-Down and Memorialization Assistance, a designated Beneficiary Assistance Coordinator will assist in the memorialization (on applicable social media networks) and the discontinuation of access to your loved one’s social media accounts. Social media networks covered by this service include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and Google services including Gmail and YouTube.

Vladimir Poletaev, Vice President of Global Business Development of Generali’s Global Assistance’s Identity and Digital Protection Services Global Unit, added, “During these difficult times we understand the importance of designating a Beneficiary Assistance Coordinator who will be there to assist you through every step of the process, as it can be incredibly difficult to keep track of everything that’s involved in taking care of a loved one’s affairs. Furthermore, our Beneficiary Assistance Coordinators can assist with all the necessary details, like securing the 10-20 copies of the death certificate that are often required when closing out accounts. Much like canceling landline phone service for a deceased loved one was important a decade ago, now shutting down and securing your loved one’s digital identity is just as important.”
