Beneficiary Companion from Iris® Powered by Generali is a dedicated post-loss support service that handles the administrative burden of closing a deceased loved one’s affairs and protects their identity from theft and fraud.
Beneficiary Companion can be used by the executor of the estate when a loved one passes away, or by the executor of a Beneficiary Companion customer’s own estate after they pass. In either case, the person contacting Iris must have legal authority to manage the deceased’s affairs.
Deceased individuals are a frequent target for identity thieves looking to fraudulently open credit lines, obtain loans, and claim tax refunds. Iris’ service addresses this by reviewing the deceased’s credit report with the beneficiary, assisting with suppressing or freezing the credit file with all major bureaus, and providing full-service fraud resolution – including affidavit assistance, help filing police reports, and creditor follow-up – if identity theft occurs.
A dedicated Beneficiary Assistance Coordinator manages notifying the Social Security Administration, credit bureaus, financial institutions, government agencies, and third-party vendors. Through the service, the beneficiary receives Iris’ Beneficiary Companion Guidebook to help them navigate the entire process. The service is also backed by 24/7 live support.
While insurance companies or financial counseling services may offer emotional counseling and support through EAP programs, they often still leave beneficiaries to manage the practical chaos of closing a loved one’s affairs on their own. Beneficiary Companion fills that gap with hands-on, administrative relief that those services don’t provide. It enhances your existing product, generates additional revenue, and reinforces your brand as a caring, trusted partner to customers during one of the most difficult moments of their lives.
As more people maintain an active digital presence, closing or memorializing social media accounts after a death has become an increasingly common and emotionally difficult task for families. Iris’ coordinators will work directly with the beneficiary to discontinue access to the loved one’s social media accounts and assist with the memorialization of eligible accounts, preserving their digital legacy with care.
Beneficiary Companion from Iris is a live support service and can be added to any identity and cyber protection program, regardless of the delivery method. To offer the service, Iris partners will need to select the enrollment method to provide their customers with access.
